Bringing your new cat home

Arriving home

Congratulations on your new arrival!

Whether you’re a first time cat owner or a seasoned crazy cat person, this is an exciting time. If you’d like some tips to prepare you for your new arrival, read on

Arriving home

When you first bring your new pet home it is best to provide them with a quiet room, separate from other pets to settle in. This room should contain everything your new cat will need in their first few days such as;

  - Food & water

- Litter tray

- Bed

- Scratch post

- Toys

- Hiding spots (such as under a bed)

- Feliway or Pet Remedy Diffuser (these can help nervous cats feel more settled)

It is best to allow your new cat some space during this time to explore their surroundings and find the above items. How much space you should give and how long your cat will need to be confined, very much depends on the individual cat’s personality. In most cases this stage lasts a few days, however for shyer cats, please be prepared to wait a little longer.

If you do not have other pets, you can now let your cat begin to explore your home at their own pace. They should always be allowed access back to their quiet space until they are fully comfortable in your home.

If you have other pets in the house, we recommend you now move on to this section
